For Registered Apprentices with Culinary Experience: Cook Apprentice Programs

Apprenticeship.  Start in September or January.

  • Apprentices can earn official certification as a Cook from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities by completing 5,280 hours of on-the-job training under the sponsorship of a registered employer and 720 hours of classroom training.
  •  Humber College offers the in-classroom portion of the cook apprenticeship training at the Humber north campus, with two options to choose from:
    • BLOCK RELEASE-Attend classes full-time 5 days per week for 12 weeks starting in January.
    • DAY RELEASE-Attend classes for 2 days per week for 30 weeks starting in September.

Graduates hold positions as chefs in restaurants, hotels, resorts, catering companies, and foodservice organizations.

Uniforms

Apprentice students must purchase a Humber uniform.  Communication will be sent to you prior to tthe start of your program on how to pay for your uniform and order your personal size.
